Our Illustrious History



1927: The Hindu Women's Welfare Society established in the memory of Swami Shraddhanandji by luminaries like Shri B G Kher, Barrister Jaykar, Shri R D Birla, Shri V L Napoo

1928: Shraddhanand Mahilashram started in rental premises

1936: Mahilashram shifted to current premises at Matunga, Mumbai, India

1964: Old Age Home for destitute elderly women established at Vasai, Mumbai which was subsequently renamed to Shri R S alias Dadasaheb Tatke. This Old Age Home currently provides shelter to 65 destitute elderly ladies

1974: Working Women's Hostel established at Kurla, Mumbai which currently houses over 100 working women coming from outside Mumbai and belonging to lower income groups

1979: Special Care Center for orphan infants established at Matunga. The center provides round the clock nursing assistance and daily medical care along with physiotherapy and speech therapy

2003: Smt. Manoramabai Phadke hostel for lady students was establised at Matunga, Mumbai

2016: Fully equipped Computer Laboratory was established at Shraddhanand Mahilashram at Matunga to ensure computer literacy of ashram kanyas

2019: Project under way to expand capacity of Kurla hostel by another 100 beds
