The Therapy and Activity centre

The Therapy and Activity centre was inaugurated with the hands of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, President of India in 2002.

This centre was one of the project undertaken by the Shraddhanand Mahilashram on completing 75 yrs of establishment( Platinum jubilee).

The centre was visualised to cater to needs of children with Disabilities who are orphan cared for in custodial care of the Ashram.

Many children are with more than one Disability/ challenges and need special Therapy and Education .A team of physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist and special educator would work for overall development of the child. The paediatrician would refer those children identified with delayed physical and mental milestones. The centre at present has 18 children taking physiotherapy thrice a week .A few children attend regular or special schools but attend therapy sessions for their associated problems.

Therapy is given to improve balance, coordination, posture, walking, gait,muscle tone etc.
