The Baluben & Jagjivan Mulji Hostel for Working Women

Our Working Womens Hostel at Kurla is a secure and reliable place to stay for the working ladies coming from various parts of India. The hostel is situated in the heart of Mumbai city at Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, Kurla, which is connected by all modes of transportation. The hostel has a capacity to accommodate 100 ladies. From last year 30% of admission is given to girls students. The hostel is surrounded by a small garden with Plants/trees of different flowers and fruits, which makes the atmosphere pleasant. At present there are 96 hostelites in the hostel.

3 girls are accommodated in each room. Perhaps it is the only hostel in the suburb which has attached bathroom and toilet. Each girl is provided separate table, chair, cot and cupboard. A facility of table for ironing the clothes, water purifying machine, Water cooler, Solar system and gas geyser for hot water etc. is provided at each floor. The hostel has well equipped library and reading room. Daily newspapers are provided. The hostel has recreation room for entertainment of hostelites where LCD television, games like carom, chess and badminton are available.

On the occasion of Women’s day, a get-together of the hostelites was held in the hostel. Various competitions were arranged. All the hostelites and staff at the hostel participated in the competitions. The winners were distributed prizes in the hands of Shri Shridhar Upasani –Chairperson, Smt. Vibha Gadre-Honorary Secretary and Smt. Subhaga Kadoo, members of Kurla Hostel. Snacks were served on this occasion.

To feel the stay in home away from home, various festivals are celebrated enthusiastically. We provide simple but delicious and nutritious food. Breakfast and Tiffin (Bhaji Poli) is provided if intimated prior day. Sweets are served on every Wednesday and on festival days.

Due to availability of good amenities to live in comfort, and pleasing homely atmosphere of the hostel, the average number of the hostel girls is 100.
